Now….I hate to say it…..especially as there may well be more good weather in store for September, but…I’ve started scripting the Christmas Pantomime!!
This year the staff will be presenting to you all ‘Sleeping Bootie’. And again, the star of the show will be our leader in charge, Darryl. This year, however, he will have fewer lines to memorise, as he will spend much of the production, asleep!
If anyone has any glitzy, silly or just generally over-the-top clothing or props that you might be willing to loan us, we would be extremely grateful.
On Tuesday, September 25th we will be holding our Residents’ and Relatives’ Meeting. This is an opportunity for residents and their families and friends to meet with the management team to talk about the future of Somerforde and their ideas on moving forward. I hope you will be able to attend as it will be a great opportunity for us all to share our thoughts. Our building renovation is almost completed! Thank you all for being so patient while the works were carried out.
The new rooms on the second floor should be available for occupation in the next couple of months and we look forward to welcoming some new residents to the Somerforde family. We now have new flooring throughout the home, newly decorated walls and an upgraded conservatory with new roof, which will enable us to have an additional dining area once new tables and chairs are in situ.
Our activity programme for September will include entertainers, exercise groups and a new reading group, where members of the Devon Library Services will come along and match with residents to read to them their choice of novels.
Our monthly themed event for September will be a ’Last of the Summer Wine’ wine tasting session on Thursday 27th with entertainment from Andy and Sue. It will also give us the opportunity to bid Andy and Sue a fond farewell before they move to France. On Friday 28th September we will be holding a Coffee and Cake morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Staff will be showing off their cake baking skills but if any friends and family would be willing to donate a cake for the morning we would be most grateful. If you could drop me an email to let me know that would be fantastic.
Please do get in touch if you have any requests for future events by either telephoning me or email [email protected]
