Well, I was right about the weather…….what a glorious few weeks we’ve had, let’s hope it continues throughout July.

Our monthly themed event for June went well and residents enjoyed al fresco entertainment, courtesy of singing duo Andy and Sue and also some great BBQ food, prepared by our cook, Jackie.

Building works continue on schedule. The new lift will be installed and operational early this month, the new flooring has been laid to first floor and stairs and the ground floor is next to be transformed. Painting and decorating continues with a fresh new feel to the corridors and dining room. The second floor conversion should be complete by August and the new roof to
the conservatory will mean that this room becomes functional in all weathers. we will keep you all informed on the progress.

In August we will be holding a summer fete. Everyone is invited and it promises to be a fun day with stalls, games, entertainment and BBQ. We will advertise this by email and posters in the next couple of weeks. We are in the process of collecting items for stalls and also for a raffle. If anyone has any unwanted gifts, bottles or white elephant items that they would be willing to donate we would be most grateful. All monies raised will go towards our residents’
fund which will be used for future residents events and activities.

During July we welcome a new musical entertainer, Geoff who will be working with residents on an interactive musical activity.

Our film club will continue with classics such as ‘It Happened One Night; Calamity Jane; African Queen and Inn of the Sixth Happiness’, Many thanks to Carer, Kurt for organising this and for providing this month’s ‘meet the staff’ newsletter blog.

Our weekly prize bingo session continues to be a popular and well-attended event. Families are more than welcome to come along. The cost to visitors is £3 per session which includes around 5 games. A big thanks to Maurice for his weekly assistance with bingo calling.

Please do get in touch if you have any requests for future events by either telephoning me or email jackie@somerforde.uk.
