…and the heat continues. Wonderful weather, but not so wonderful for the Somerforde Care Assistants, Cook, Domestic and Laundry Assistant who have looked rather hot and sweaty in past weeks, I must say! Well done to you all for maintaining a smile whilst melting!
I’ve also noticed a seemingly endless supply of ice lollies and milkshakes being served up during the hot afternoons which is lovely.
Our Annual Summer Garden Party is now only two weeks away – Saturday 11th August. We are busy planning all the stalls and Darryl is on a shopping frenzy to ensure that we have plenty of food for the BBQ and Cream Teas…along with copious amounts of Pimms and cold drinks. I do hope you will all be able to join us for all or part of the afternoon.
We have entertainment scheduled throughout the afternoon, including Stuart on his Accordion (be ready to shake those maracas and tambourines); Andy and Sue singing a medley of foot-tapping songs and Glenn entertaining us with more singalong classics. Between 1pm and 2pm I will be joined by Janet Middleweek and Maurice to host a prize bingo session on the patio.
We have several stalls and games including Hook a Duck; Play your Cards Right; Tombola; Bottle Stall; Cake Stall; Raffle; Name the Teddy.
Thank you to all of you who have donated bottles for the bottle stall and items for Tombola and Raffle. Please do keep those donations coming in….we are most grateful for everything received. We are also seeking pasting tables……so if anyone has one we could loan for the day, that would be wonderful.
As part of the Fete, we will be holding a Cake Competition. All entries will be judged by our panel with the best entry being rewarded with a certificate and prize. All cakes will then be
sold on our cake stall. So get baking everyone….. we hope to raise as much money as possible for our Residents’ Fund which enables us to provide themed events and entertainment throughout the year.
Kurt has kindly supplied an array of Doris Day films for our film club, so during August we will continue munching popcorn while enjoying some old classics.
And finally, by the time our September newsletter reaches you Darryl will be a married man, so on behalf of everyone at Somerforde, I would like to send huge good luck wishes for the big
Please do get in touch if you have any requests for future events by either telephoning me or email email@example.com.
